U.S. Flag Reverence & Etiquette

I was raised in a very patriotic home.  My father was a U.S. Marine and spent his entire career in law enforcement and corrections.  I was instilled with a deep love for my country along with a devotion that if necessary I would be willing to die fighting to protect and preserve its honor, the Constitution and our God given freedoms for posterity.  Giving honor and respect to our U.S. military, all veterans and law enforcement was a way of life.  They have and continue to sacrifice all in order for us to have what our founding fathers gave their lives, fortunes and sacred honor to establish. Teaching proper respect and etiquette of our American flag is an important part of patriotism.  Please carry on the tradition and teach your children and grandchildren its importance.

Below is a short film of a flag retirement ceremony.   I organized the event with the assistance of  the local VFW commander.  The Right Club of South Collier County of which I am an executive board member hosted  the event.  The VFW commander along with his color guard conducted the official ceremonial rituals.  Local, prominent veterans were invited to lead us in the invocation, the pledge of allegiance and the presentation of the official flag to be retired.  Our local sheriff, county commissioners, and other elected public servants were in attendance. It was a tremendous success as the community came together and were able to participate in honoring the U.S. flag and veterans.  Each person in attendance was give an opportunity to present a ceremonially pre-folded U.S. flag that could be retired in honor of a veteran or loved one.  Most chose to honor deceased veterans that were family members.
